The Legal Administrative Assistant will have the following combination of skills and experience:
3+ years legal administrative experience, including drafting correspondence, document preparation and document management
detail-oriented with excellent proof-reading and formatting skills
strong understanding of law-firm processes
ability to independently learn and use electronic tools, systems and applications
demonstrated strength in time management and organizational skills
creative approach to problem-solving
ability to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
certificate in a legal administrative training program or equivalent educational experience
a sense of humour
Description of Position
The Legal Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibilities will include:
supporting lawyers with accurate drafting and formatting of legal documents and correspondence
filing court documents
managing client and file information
scheduling meetings, tracking action items and deadlines
sharing reception duties such as answering incoming calls, sending/receiving couriers and preparing meeting spaces
ad hoc duties as required
The successful candidate will work full-time out of the First Peoples Law office in Ottawa.
The estimated salary range for this position is between $55,000 – $65,000. Compensation will be determined on an individual basis, taking into account the applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience, applicable market rates, and other relevant considerations.
