Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly organized, creative problem-solver with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The lawyer will have the following combination of skills and experience:
- 2-4 years of post-call experience in the areas of constitutional or administrative law
knowledge of issues relating to First Nation land and resource management, governance and community development
interest in labour and employment law
strong analytical, communication, drafting and writing skills
ability to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
member in good standing of the law society of British Columbia and/or Ontario
a sense of humor
Description of Position
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to deliver high-quality legal representation to our clients, with a focus on First Nations governance matters, specific claims and employment law. This position is for an existing vacancy.
The lawyer will work full-time out of the First Peoples Law office in either Vancouver or Ottawa.
The estimated salary range for this position is between $110,000 – $155,000. Compensation will be determined on an individual basis, taking into account the applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience, applicable market rates, and other relevant considerations.
