First Peoples Law is a law firm dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of Indigenous Peoples. We work exclusively with Indigenous Peoples to defend their inherent and constitutionally protected title, rights and Treaty rights, uphold their Indigenous laws and governance and ensure economic prosperity for their current and future generations. We use a collaborative, team-based approach to ensure our legal services are high quality and cost effective.

We provide strategic advice to Indigenous Peoples seeking to advance and uphold their inherent and constitutionally protected title, rights and Treaty rights. We work alongside our clients in negotiations and represent them in leading Indigenous rights litigation to ensure their rights are recognized and respected.

We support Indigenous Peoples in their efforts to revitalize Indigenous laws and governance processes and exercise their inherent jurisdiction.

We provide advice to Indigenous Peoples in negotiations with the private sector and governments to ensure their inherent and constitutionally protected title, rights and Treaty rights are respected and that they are able to meaningfully benefit from their lands.

 

Specific Claims


We assist with preparing specific claims for historical breaches of the Crown’s legal obligations to First Nations and represent First Nations in specific claims negotiations and in proceedings before the Specific Claims Tribunal.
