First Peoples Law LLP is seeking a Director of Operations to join our growing team dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

First Peoples Law is committed to defending and advancing Indigenous Peoples’ inherent and constitutionally protected title, rights and Treaty rights. Our objective is to play a meaningful role in Indigenous Peoples’ ongoing struggle for a more respectful and equitable world for themselves and their children.
With a team of 28, including 17 lawyers, we provide the highest-quality legal services to our clients on issues related to title and rights, governance and economic prosperity, while actively participating in public education initiatives. Our work includes providing representation and strategic advice to First Nations and Indigenous groups across Canada.

The Director of Operations will have the following qualifications:

familiarity with standard office systems, legal systems and document management systems

Description of Position
The Director of Operations will work collaboratively with the firm’s partners to:
develop and implement the firm’s human resources policies, including liaising with partners and team members to ensure efficiency across firm platforms and projects
develop, improve and implement firm policies and systems, including implementation of digital document management and ongoing IT upgrades
develop and monitor financial budgets, including establishment and oversight of a monthly reporting protocol
identify and implement changes to budgets to promote profitability
develop and update operational and strategic goals, including short- and long-term business planning
develop programs to enhance employee relations and improve overall team satisfaction
develop and implement processes to address employee concerns and support the resolution of interpersonal conflict
The Director of Operations will work on a fulltime basis out of the First Peoples Law office in Vancouver.
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
