The lawyer will have the following combination of skills and experience:
7 or more years of legal practice experience with corporate work
creative and collaborative approach to problem solving
excellent academic credentials, strong work ethic and positive team attitude
strong analytical, communication, drafting and writing skills
digitally enabled/engaged and comfortable with using and learning technology
ability to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
knowledge and experience with trust law matters an asset
called to the bar in Ontario and/or British Columbia
a sense of humor
Description of Position
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to deliver high-quality legal representation to our clients.
The lawyer will work on a full-time basis out of the First Peoples Law office in either Ottawa or Vancouver.
The primary responsibilities will include:
advising clients on corporate commercial and economic development matters, including initial incorporations, tax matters, trusts, leases, asset/share transactions, revenue sharing agreements, corporate governance and contract drafting
providing mentorship and guidance to the corporate commercial team
fostering solid & ongoing relationships with clients
seeking out and participating in business development opportunities
willingness to travel
The estimated salary range for this position is between $160,000 - $250,000. Compensation will be determined on an individual basis, taking into account the applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience, applicable market rates, and other relevant considerations.
